GOP presidential nominee Donald Trump attacks the top Republican representative from Wisconsin, Paul Ryan, ahead of his visit to the state, amid a rift in the party following the release of the New York billionaire’s lewd comments about sexually assaulting women.
In a conversation leaked first by The Washington Post earlier this month, Trump was caught making vulgar comments, which drew harsh criticism from top GOPers, including House Speaker Ryan (pictured below), who said he was “sickened” by the comments and would not campaign alongside Trump anymore, yet he will still support him.
The New York billionaire responded with a barrage of tweets, upping the ante in one by calling the Republican leader “very weak and ineffective.”
Just one day before Trump is scheduled to visit Wisconsin, he started attacking Ryan again on Sunday, accusing him of not supporting his party’s nominee.
“The Democrats have a corrupt political machine pushing crooked Hillary Clinton. We have Paul Ryan, always fighting the Republican nominee!” wrote the real estate mogul.
Ryan has apparently adopted a new policy of reticence in an attempt to avoid more intraparty warfare.
He is instead trying to make the case against Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton by convincing US voters that another four years of a Democratic administration would be harmful to the United States’ foreign and economic policies.
“Paul Ryan, a man who doesn't know how to win (including failed run four years ago), must start focusing on the budget, military, vets etc.,” Trump said of the Wisconsin lawmaker in another tweet.
The former reality TV star is set to hold a rally at America's Dairyland on Monday, which will be followed by another one in Colorado on Tuesday.
