1 Gunmen dressed as medics have stormed a hospital in the Afghan capital, Kabul, and battled security forces for hours, killing more than 30 people and wounding more than 50 in an attack claimed by Isis (Islamic State).

2 China has granted preliminary approval for 38 new Trump trademarks, a move that offers a potential business foothold for US President Donald Trump's family company and protects his name in a country notorious for counterfeiters. The trademarks cover everything from hotels and golf clubs to bodyguard and concierge services, public documents show.

5 A multitude of International Women's Day events were held around the globe. The Day Without a Woman protest in the US was put together by organisers of the vast women's marches the day after President Donald Trump's inauguration. The turnout this time appeared in many places to be far smaller.
