Premier League: Arsenal battle for unsettled Croatian striker

ARSENAL
and Manchester City are ready to battle it out in the final days of the
transfer window for the signing of Atletico Madrid’s Mario Mandzukic.

The Croatian striker moved to Spain from Bayern Munich over the
summer but the arrival – and return to form – of former Chelsea man
Fernando Torres has seen the striker fall down the pecking order at the
Vicente Calderon Stadium.

And reports in Spain suggest that the
28-year-old could now be offloaded in the coming days with City and
Arsenal both interested.

Indeed, City are said to be willing to
spend £26m to bring Mandzukic to the Etihad despite having already
signed Wilfried Bony from Swansea.

But it seems that after being linked with a move over the summer,
Arsenal could also rekindle their interest having addressed their
transfer priority by bringing in Gabriel Paulista.

It now remains
to be seen whether the Gunners are prepared to match City’s valuation
of the former Wolfsburg star and whether that will be enough for
Atletico to sell in the coming days.
