MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host and former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough has announced that he’s leaving the GOP.
“I’ve got to become an independent,” said Scarborough during an interview with CBS “Late Show” host Stephen Colbert on Tuesday.
“I am a Republican but I’m not going to be a Republican anymore,” he added.
He appeared as a guest with his co-host and fiance, Mika Brzezinski, who was attacked by Republican President in late June.
“I heard poorly rated @Morning_Joe speaks badly of me (don’t watch anymore),” Trump tweeted then.
Trump added, “Then how come low I.Q. Crazy Mika, along with Psycho Joe, came to Mar-a-Lago 3 nights in a row around New Year’s Eve, and insisted on joining me. She was bleeding badly from a face-lift. I said no!”
Trump was often interviewed on “Morning Joe” aired from MSNBC during the 2016 presidential campaign.

Scarborough said that it’s uprising why so many Republicans look the other way when Trump says or does something that betrays the party’s core values.
Scarborough was elected to four terms in Congress from Florida starting in 1994.
The tweets drew immediate criticism from Republican Senator Lindsey Graham. He wrote, “Mr. President, your tweet was beneath the office and represents what is wrong with American , not the greatness of America.”
Senator Ben Sasse tweeted: “Please just stop. This isn’t normal and it’s beneath the dignity of your office.”
Trump has repeatedly used the term “fake ” largely for any coverage criticizing him or his administration.
